The Low Cost Counseling Clinic
The Low Cost Counseling Clinic is provided by our team of Graduate School Interns. These interns are in the last phases or their training before graduation and obtaining the necessary hours for full licensure as Therapist.
Our team consist of:
Alberta Betterson is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern with 8 years of pastoral counseling experience. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2010 from Liberty University. Alberta is experienced in facilitating support groups and workshops for couples and women. She has 20+ years of experience as a non-profit administrator, 2 years as a volunteer coordinator, and 2 years as an HIV counselor. Alberta has earned a Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Theory in Addictive Behavior from Capella University; Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Studies from Capella University; Certificate of Completion in “Caring for People God’s Way” from the American Association of Christian Counselors; Certificate of Completion in “Breaking Free” from the American Association of Christian Counselors; Certification in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) from the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. Alberta has also earned Relias Training Certificates of Completion in the following:
- Suicide Risk Assessment
- Alcohol and the Family
- Co-Occurring Disorders
- Depressive Disorders in Children and Adolescents
- Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence
- Motivational Interviewing
- Valuing Diversity in the Work Place
Alberta is also a member in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
She wholeheartedly believes that people have within them, the propensity and the innate ability to create a healthy and prosperous life for themselves, which is why she looks forward to working in the low cost counseling clinic. Mary Richards is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2015 from Georgia Gwinnett College. Mary is experienced in facilitating support groups and workshops for couples and women.
I believe we all deserve the opportunity to find purpose within any situation life throws in our path. Working in the Low Cost Counseling Clinic allows me to pursue my passion. I work with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Whether you or someone you know is struggling with pain, sadness, anxiety, worry, relationships, self-esteem, grief, loss, or a difficult life transition, I can help. As a member of the the low cost counseling clinic income is no longer an obstacle. Using a structured and empathic approach to therapy I strive to meet my clients where they are and assist them in gaining self-awareness, and providing them with the support they need to move through whatever challenge they are facing.
